Padma Koppula of Aranya Agricultural Alternatives, host of the next International Permaculture Convergence, will speak about her work organizing thousands of poor village women in food self sufficiency. Women in India are the heart of equitable distribution of all resources for families and agricultural needs. Padma will shareabout how she supports underprivileged women's motivation, strength and capacities. She leads women in organizing cooperative fodder forests for animals, food forests for people, community herbal gardens, and cooperative food preservation systems. Padma is an incredible permaculture and women's activist with 25 years of experience in grassroots organizing to share with participants.

Women manage right usage of resources such as water for domestic use and agriculture, seed preservation and planting, and appropriate placement and management. Division of all resources equitably and appropriately managed for family, animals and agricultural needs. Forming group strength among women and making value added products, assisting women in villages to set up this sort of cooperative food production systems. Also cooperative women led management of community fodder forests for animals for economic livelihood and reviving herbal knowledge in villages and setting up community herbal gardens. Building motivation and capacity building of women in underprivileged, organizing exposure visits for women to other women led organizations and movements, listening to success stories of other women. Padma has worked with thousands of women in organizing food self sufficiency gardens and food forests.
