The International Permaculture Convergence has been active since 1985. The main aim of this event is to bring together Permaculture practitioners from around the world to share their experiences and to strategize about the future Permaculture movement. The IPC is in 2 parts, first part is conference attended by the members of the public, policy makers & representatives of the Permaculture and the Convergence is attended by the PDC holders.
The Conference, held prior to the Convergence, is attended by members of the public, policy makers, researchers, universities, farmers and representatives of the Permaculture movement. It brings together some of the most inspiring and experienced practitioners from around the world to deliver a diverse and engaging programme.
The theme of the IPCIndia2017 is "Towards Healthy Societies" with special emphasis on women as agents of change in building sustainable communities. Only PDC holders will be participating in this event.
The last International Convergence was held in the UK from 8th-16th Sept 2015. The next IPC is being scheduled to take place from 26thNov-2nd Dec 2017 at Hyderabad, Telangana State, India, being hosted by Aranya Agricultural Alternatives.
Aranya Agricultural Alternatives is an NGO founded by Narsanna and Padma Koppula. Since 1999, Aranya has been empowering farming communities across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with permaculture practices that create sustainable agricultural livelihoods.
We have facilitated community participation in sustainable watershed management, supported tribal farmers to establish and maintain perennial orchards, provided technical support for development of permaculture farms, run permaculture courses and internship programs for youth and farmers, as well as introduced solar power for use in irrigation, cooking and lighting.
Aranya Agricultural Alternatives hosted the National Permaculture Convergence in Hyderabad, India from 5th-7th Feb 2016. In addition to that Aranya is hosting the 13th International Permaculture Convergence, in Hyderabad from 25th Nov-2nd Dec 2017 (Conference from 25th-26th Nov 2017 & Convergence from 27th-2nd Dec 2017).The theme for both Conference & Convergences is "Towards healthy societies" and will highlight the essential role women play as agents of change.
